Tata launches Intra V10 light truck, starts at PHP 545k
There’s a new light truck in the Philippine market, and it’s powered by a two-cylinder turbo-diesel engine. This is the Tata Intra V10, and it’s aimed to compete against the likes of the Suzuki Carry.
Recently revealed by Tata distributor Pilipinas Autogroup Inc., the Intra V10 is set to offer customers a small yet capable business hauler that is also fuel efficient and robust enough to take on everyday duties.
Measuring 4282mm long, 1639mm wide, and 1903mm tall, the Intra V10 is indeed compact. However, it still offers a generous 2250mm wheelbase which means it can haul long loads with ease. In fact, Tata claims the bed can carry cargo as long as 8.2 feet and as wide as 5.3 feet.
And speaking of its bed, the dropside body is 2450mm long, 1540mm wide, and 300mm tall. This allows the Intra V10 to lug different types of equipment and goods. Combined with a full leaf spring suspension system, the V10 has a maximum payload capacity of 800 kg.
Motivating the Intra V10 is an 0.8-liter (800cc) two-cylinder turbo-diesel engine that benefits from CRDi and an intercooler. It makes a humble 40 PS at 3750 rpm along with a respectable 96 Nm of torque between 1750 to 2500 rpm. Power is then sent to the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission. Tata says that the Intra V10 is capable of averaging 16 km/l which makes it fuel efficient.
Inside the V10, the cabin is both simple and ergonomic. It gets a huge steering wheel for the driver and is complemented by a digital gauge cluster. There’s an integrated head unit in the center of the dashboard that supports AM/FM radio, and USB connectivity. There’s also a lockable glove box, a parcel shelf on the passenger side of the dashboard, and additional cubby holes on the door trims. Other in-car amenities present include power windows, manual air-conditioning, and a USB charging port.
The Tata Intra V10 is now available for PHP 545,000 in the dropside configuration. Other available variants include a stake van (PHP 595,000), FB body (PHP 686,000), and an aluminum van (PHP 637,000).
