Tata to launch Intra V10 in PH next week

The competition in the country’s light commercial vehicle segment will warm up more as Pilipinas Autogroup, Inc. (PilipinasAuto) will be introducing to the market Tata’s compact truck offering, the Intra V10.

The Indian automotive marque’s distributor in the country will present the latest addition to its local roster — launched globally in 2019 — to the media by Thursday next week. The confirmation was from the invite that the company sent to Carmudi Philippines.

The Tata Intra V10 that is available seen overseas is powered by a two-cylinder, 800cc diesel engine that is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox.

Once available in the local market, the Tata Intra V10 will compete against the Toyota Lite Ace and the Suzuki Carry, which are both gasoline-powered engines.

Also, the powertrain of the incoming Tata Intra V10 could have a peak performance of only 44 horsepower and 110Nm. The power mill, based on the literature available in the Tata Motors website, said to be is tuned to suit various duty cycles, thanks to the Gear Shift Advisor or economy switch, leading to enhanced fuel efficiency.

Despite its size, the Tata Intra V10 (4,282 millimeter [mm> long and a wheelbase of 2,250mm) is designed to be a workhorse — capable of carrying as much as 1,000 kilograms with its 2,512mm long and 1,603mm wide cargo bed at the rear. It is also engineered to have superb maneuverability, even on narrow and congested roads, with its 4.75m turning radius.

Helping the Tata Intra V10 haul up to its maximum cargo with its semi-elliptical leaf springs and 14-inch tires.

The vehicle’s official pricing and other details are expected to be shared during the launch date.
